AP Physics will prepare students for college and engineering. Students taking the course should have successfully completed Algebra. The course will utilize guided inquiry and student-centered learning to foster the development of critical thinking skills. The following content outline gives an approximate amount of time necessary to complete the course.
Required Materials:
Three-Ring Notebook with 4 tabs labeled as: 1. Notes 2.Handouts 3. Graded Work 4. Labs Students in AP Physics. should develop certain habits like organizational skills one of those skills is good note taking skills, these notes should be kept organized. You should bring with you a black pen and a blue pen along with a highlighter for handouts. I will give you plenty of time to do your homework however if you fail to meet the approptiate time schedule late work will not be acceptated
Your Grade will be determined on the following scale
Tests 25 %
Quizzes 20 %
Labs 30%
Final 10 %
Homework 15 %
Students should expect to be assigned homework 2-3 times a week in Pre-AP Physics. Homework should be turned in on the due date to recieve full credit. Work turned the next meeting day after thedue date will recieve 75 maxium credit. Work turned in later will recieve no credit. If you are absent it is your responsibility to ask me for your missed assignment. It is your responsibility to get the work and make it up within the time frame set by your instructor.
Class Expectations:
1. Be on time and be in your assigned seat.
2. Bring all materials and be prepared for class.
3. Follow directions the first time they are given. Ask if you do not understand the directions.
4. Be respectful to your teacher, your classmates, yourself and YOUR classroom.
5. Follow all El Paso High School and EPISD policies and requirements for DRESS CODE
6. During Class you are not allowed to use your CELL PHONES OR LISTEN TO MUSIC
7. THERE IS NOT EATING OR DRINKING IN THE CLASS
8. No Horse play in the LAB
Lab Safety Policy:
No individual will be allowed in the lab without safety glasses. No individual will be allowed in the lab wearing shorts or skirt, or open-toed shoes. Do not sit on the benches. Chemical residues might contaminate your clothing. Do not eat or drink in the laboratory. If you must take a break, wash your hands thoroughly before leaving. Given proper warning, students who do not comply with the safety rules will be asked to leave without receiving a grade for the experiment.
Academic Integrity:
The faculty expects from its students a high level of responsibility and academic honesty. It is imperative that a student demonstrate a high standard of individual honor in his or her scholastic work. If a Student is caught using his/her cell phone during a Exam, the exam will be void and the student will face the consequences of acadiemic dishonesty!
Scholastic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, statements, acts or omissions related to applications for enrollment or the award of a credit in chemistry, and/or the submission as one’s own work or material that is not one’s own. As a general rule, scholastic dishonesty involves one of the following acts: cheating, plagiarism, collusion and/or falsifying academic records. Students suspected of academic dishonesty are subject to disciplinary proceedings.
Plagiarism, especially from the web, from portions of papers for other classes, and from any other source is unacceptable and will be dealt with under the school’s policy on plagiarism.
